Russell Wilson: 'Why can't I be the best QB to ever play?'

Good isn't good enough for Russell Wilson.

The young Seahawks quarterback, fresh off his Super Bowl XLVIII victory, was in Texas on Wednesday to throw out the first pitch before the Phillies-Rangers game. It's there that he let us in on his big goal.

"Why can't I be the best quarterback to ever play the game one day," Wilson said. "I'm not right now. I've got a long way to go. But one day, you know?"

If Wilson has taught us anything in his short time in the NFL, it's that nothing seems out of his reach. He even experimented with his other love, baseball, since NFL season ended. He spent some time with the Rangers during spring training, after the organization used a draft pick on him in the Rule 5 Draft back in December.

But don't worry. He's focused on the pigskin. Wilson says he's in the middle of a "championship offseason," has been in touch with his Seahawks teammates, and is staying hungry and focused on winning another Super Bowl ring.

So how about it? Can Wilson become the best quarterback ever? His head coach, Pete Carroll, is stressing that young Russell is still growing.

Regardless, Carroll feels that Wilson can be a 70 percent passer someday. By the way, the NFL record for career completion percentage is 66 percent, held by Chad Pennington.
