Royals will wear gold-trimmed uniforms on home Fridays

Love those gold-trimmed Royals unis -- the ones the team wore for the first two games of the season? They're coming back.

The uniforms, which signified the Royals' 2015 World Series championship, were a hit with fans and players. So, the Royals asked Major League Baseball for permission to wear them some more. Permission granted -- for home games on Fridays, starting April 22 against Baltimore.

"These uniforms are representative of a huge accomplishment for our franchise, and after seeing the reception they received, not only from our fans, but equally as important, our players, we decided to seek permission to at least wear them periodically during the 2016 season," Kevin Uhlich, Royals senior vice president of business operations, said in a team press release. "We'd like to thank Major League Baseball, Majestic and New Era for their efforts in allowing us the opportunity to enjoy these one-of-a-kind uniforms throughout this year."

The specially designed Majestic jerseys and caps from New Era feature the script "Royals" embossed in gold with blue trim and blue numbers, with the players' name in blue and their number embossed in gold on the back. The Royal blue caps feature a gold "KC" with white trim on the front with the 2015 World Series Champions logo on the side of the cap.
