Report: Texas A&M to make switch at quarterback

Kenny Hill could be a spectator when Texas A&M plays Louisiana-Monroe Saturday at Kyle Field.

Hill, who burst onto the scene in his first collegiate start against South Carolina, will be a backup to true freshman Kyle Allen Saturday according to Billy Liucci of Texags.com.

Hill guided the Aggies to a 5-0 start and top 10 ranking but the Aggies have lost three-consecutive games and Hill has thrown as many interceptions (six) as touchdown passes.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin said earlier this week that all jobs were open and that included the quarterback spot. Allen, one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation, has played in four games in mop-up duty for A&M. He's 23 for 38 with for 264 yards and three touchdown passes.

Liucci said Allen took the snaps with the No. 1 unit in practice Thursday.

Despite his recent struggles, Hill ranks in the top 10 nationally in passing touchdowns, completions and passing yards.
