Report: Browns hold private workout for QB Blake Bortles

The Browns continued their tour of working out quarterback prospects for the upcoming NFL Draft by working out University of Central Florida quarterback Blake Bortles.

According to Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel, several members of the Browns organization were seen exiting the UCF indoor practice facility Wednesday morning after working out Bortles, who left the facility shortly thereafter.

GM Ray Farmer, coach Mike Pettine, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan and quarterbacks coach Dowell Loggains were in attendance according to Cleveland.com.

Pettine spoke highly of Bortles at the NFL owner's meetings last week in Florida.

"He has all the measurables," Pettine said. "If you look at him, if you said draw me an NFL quarterback, that's probably who you'd draw.

"I think the thing that's impressive about him is his ability in crunch time in a lot of tight games, a lot of come-from-behind wins, you can see he's confident, can make all the throws, I think he's a better athlete than some people give him credit for."

The Browns privately worked out Fresno State quarterback Derek Carr on Monday and are expected to also work out Louisville's Teddy Bridgewater and Texas A & M's Johnny Manziel, among others in the next month.

Working out Bortles would explain why the Browns were reportedly not at the Pro Day of South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, who also had his workout on Wednesday.
