Padres acquire OF Jabari Blash from Oakland Athletics

The San Diego Padres today announced they have acquired OF Jabari Blash from the Oakland Athletics as the player to be named later to complete their December 2, 2015 trade for infielder Yonder Alonso.  Executive Vice President/General Manager A.J. Preller made the announcement.

Blash, 26, was acquired by the Athletics sixth overall in the Major League phase of the Rule 5 Draft earlier today from the Seattle Mariners.  He hit .271 (110-406) with 24 doubles, two triples, 32 home runs, 81 RBI and 79 runs scored in 116 games played between Triple-A Tacoma and Double-A Jackson.  The right-handed hitter was originally signed by the Mariners as an eighth-round selection in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft out of Miami Dade College.  Over parts of six minor league seasons (2010-15) in the Mariners organization he has hit .256 (488-1903) with 105 doubles, 16 triples, 109 home runs, 340 RBI and 315 runs scored in 551 games played.
