Pacers' Turner named to NBA All-Rookie second team
Forward/center Myles Turner showed Pacers fans in his rookie season he has the makings of a future star. NBA experts obviously came to that conclusion, too.
Turner was named Thursday to the NBA's All-Rookie second team in a vote from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters in the United States and Canada.
"It's an incredible honor to be recognized as part of the All-Rookie team," Turner said. "It's great motivation moving forward and I'm excited for the future."
Turner played in 60 regular-season games (30 starts), averaging 10.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. He missed 20 games with a chip fracture in his left thumb. He started four of the Pacers' seven playoff games, during which he posted averages of 10.3 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.3 blocks per game.
Joining Turner on the second team were Miami's Justise Winslow, the Lakers' D'Angelo Russell, Denver's Emmanuel Mudiay and Sacramento's Willie Cauley-Stein.
First-team selections were Minnesota's Karl-Anthony Towns (the league's Rookie of the Year), New York's Kristaps Porzingis, Phoenix's Devin Booker, Denver's Nikola Jokic and Philadelphia's Jahlil Okafor.
