Marquette men's basketball team narrowly missed out on the NCAA 68-team tournament field, but its season will continue, as the Golden Eagles were given a No. 2 seed in the National Invitation Tournament.

Marquette will host Harvard in the first round of the NIT 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Al McGuire Center. It's the program's 16th trip to the NIT and 49th postseason selection.

Harvard (18-12, 12-2) finished the regular season tied with the University of Pennsylvania in first place of the Ivy League, but the Crimson lost to Penn in the league title game, 68-65 on Sunday.

Marquette (19-13, 9-9) lost to Villanova in the Big East tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.
