Kevin's Jets jacket from 'The Wonder Years' gets home at Smithsonian

Actor-director Fred Savage appeared at the Smithsonian on Tuesday for what amounts to a Hall of Fame induction: Savage has donated the Jets jacket he wore as Kevin Arnold on the classic television show "The Wonder Years" to the National Museum of American History.

Several other "Wonder Years" items including the floral dress worn by Norma Arnold (Alley Mills) in the show's opening title sequence will enter the museum's collection as as well. The iconic jacket, flittingly, is still around thanks to Savage's sage mother who kept it, figuring the Smithsonian might want it some day.

I absolutely loved this show growing up and remember it -- and that jacket -- fondly. Check out this reel where you can see the jacket in action numerous times, including the memorable scene (at 1:33) where Kevin was tormented with trying to find the right moment to put his arm around Winnie Cooper, something of a male rite of passage.
