Katy Perry gets the nod for Super Bowl XLIX halftime show
The Super Bowl is the NFL's crown jewel. And it looks like the league has found its queen to wear that crown.
The NFL announced that pop superstar Katy Perry will perform during the halftime show of Super Bowl XLIX on Feb. 1 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona. The league made the announcement during Sunday night's game between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Perry herself confirmed the news on Twitter.

Perry is just the latest big name to grace the stage at the Super Bowl. Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers performed in 2014 and over the years, superstars such as Prince and Beyonce have jumped at the chance to be seen by the game's massive TV audience.
Perry has had three multi-platinum albums and has had 10 songs reach No. 1 on the Top 40 charts over the years.
