Jaguars place Rashad Greene on short-term IR after thumb surgery
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars have placed rookie receiver Rashad Greene on short-term injured reserve and re-signed receiver Bryan Walters.
Greene had surgery Tuesday to repair a ligament in his right thumb, which he injured Sunday against Miami. Greene is eligible to return to practice Nov. 3, which falls during the team's bye week, and could play Nov. 19 against Tennessee. He also could practice for up to 21 days before re-joining the 53-man roster.
A fifth-round draft pick from Florida State, Greene caught nine passes for 35 yards and a touchdown in two games with the Jaguars (1-1).
Walters had two receptions for 17 yards in the season opener against Carolina. He was released six days later.
The Jaguars also signed offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson and linebacker Jordan Tripp to the practice squad and released offensive tackle Patrick Miller.
