It's happening: Cam Newton will have ankle surgery
It's time.
Carolina Panther quarterback Cam Newton will have surgery to repair his injured ankle on Wednesday, the team confirmed. Now, while it's expected that Newton's recovery will take up to four months, he should be ready to go once training camp starts.
So, calm down, Panthers Nation. Everything should be fine.
"The ankle was sore after the [NFL divisional playoff game] and we wanted to see if rest would calm it down, but it is still bothering him and the decision was made to address it," Panthers head trainer Ryan Vermillion said to the Charlotte Observer.
Newton apparently first injured the ankle in a Week 10 win over the San Francisco 49ers, and then "nicked" the injury again in a Week 16 victory over the New Orleans Saints.
The surgery, which will be performend by Dr. Robert Anderson, will tighten ligaments which had been stretched out, according to a team source.
Well, here's hoping everything goes well and Cam's recovery comes along nicely.
