Heat sign Henry Walker to second 10-day contract
MIAMI -- After an impressive start with the Miami Heat, the team announced Tuesday the re-signing of shooting guard Henry Walker to a second 10-day contract.
Walker, who was originally signed on Feb. 21, has averaged 9.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 24.7 minutes in five games including one start. He reached double-figures in scoring in his first four games with Miami.
"I can't describe it, it feels just like when I got that first (contract)," said Walker. "It's just a blessing to be even called up and to have this second 10-day."
Out of the league since 2012 after stints with the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks, Walker had been playing well for the Heat's Developmental League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, averaging 15.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 27.8 minutes in 17 games prior to signing with the Heat.
He was originally drafted by the Washington Wizards in the second round (47th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft.
Walker's most memorable game so far with Miami came in a victory against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 25 when he knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers with less then a minute left in regulation to send the game into overtime.
