Heads up: Panthers' Benjamin dealing with concussion
The Week 7 injury watch includes Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin, who has been fantasy's 11th-ranked wideout this season. Benjamin hasn't practiced this week due to a concussion suffered against the Bengals, and will meet with doctors today for an update on his recovery. Benjamin has reportedly passed at least the first stage of the NFL's concussion protocol, but needs to be cleared by independent doctors in order to play. There's not really a prognosis here -- we just need to wait and see, and more information should be available today. For what it's worth, head coach Ron Rivera said Thursday that Benjamin "seemed to be doing very well," and participated in a stretching session.
In other news ...
Saints TE Jimmy Graham (shoulder) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, and there's a chance that he'll play in Detroit on Sunday. However, Graham's status is still very uncertain, and you need to have a backup plan ready, especially if we get into a gametime decision scenario.
Bengals WR A.J. Green (toe) hasn't practiced this week, and is almost certain to miss Sunday's game at Indy. But you already knew that.
Lions WR Calvin Johnson (ankle) hasn't practiced this week, and isn't expected to play Sunday. But you already knew that, too.
Johnson's teammates, TEs Eric Ebron (hamstring) and Joseph Fauria (ankle), might also be out, with Ebron at least having a chance to play according to the Detroit Free Press. RB Reggie Bush (ankle) is expected to play after missing Week 6.
Quick take on Thursday's 27-25 Patriots' win: You knew you could never safely predict a Bill Belichick backfield, right? My condolences to everyone who started Brandon Bolden (one snap, zero carries).
Remember your byes: The Eagles and Bucs are off this week. Doug Martin owners get a break from being angry at their second-round pick.
RB Mark Ingram (hand) is expected to return to action for the Saints. However, he's got a matchup with the NFL's second-ranked run defense, and Khiry Robinson is still in the mix. I'd be cautious if I owned Ingram, no matter how well he ran before getting hurt.
Titans RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) looks like a no-go again this week, so Bishop Sankey's fantasy owners can be optimistic about another solid week. QB Jake Locker (thumb) has been limited in practice, and his status remains uncertain. I wonder what the price will be on StubHub for a Charlie Whitehurst-Kirk Cousins matchup.
From the Minneapolis StarTribune: "While head coach Mike Zimmer said yesterday that he wants (Matt) Asiata to remain involved in the running game, it looks as if (Jerick) McKinnon, who has quickly climbed atop the depth chart, will be given an chance to settle in as the starter." McKinnon is my RB23 this week, even with a tough matchup against the Bills' top-ranked run defense.
Here's an interesting article on C.J. Spiller's status in Buffalo, which apparently could result in a trade before the Oct. 28 deadline. This situation doesn't seem like it's getting better.
Look for Preston Parker to replace Victor Cruz in the slot for the Giants, but don't get too excited about him.
Rams head coach Jeff Fisher said earlier this week that he has "no problem" with a running back committee approach. Sorry, Zac Stacy owners. Bench him, but don't cut him yet.
Here's my roster for this week's DraftKings "Millionaire Maker." If I win, I might take next week off.
