The Hawks have signed free agent forward DeMarre Carroll, president of basketball operations/general manager Danny Ferry announced Saturday.

Carroll played in 66 games for the Jazz last season, averaging six points and 2.8 rebounds. He made 12 starts.

“DeMarre is a great fit for our program,” Ferry said. “He is an unselfish, highly competitive player. His versatility in defending multiple positions will make him a valuable contributor to our basketball team.”

The 6-foot-8, 204-pound Missouri product has also played for the Grizzlies, Rockets and Nuggets.

Prior to signing Carroll, Atlanta waived DeShawn Stevenson. He averaged five points and two rebounds last season after joining the team in the Joe Johnson trade in July 212.
