Gophers’ Wilcox named Rookie of the Month
Minnesota Gophers freshman goaltender Adam Wilcox was named the Hockey Commissioners’ Association National Division I Rookie of the Month for November on Tuesday. The St. Paul, Minn., native put up a 1.75 goals-against average during the month, helping the Gophers to 5-2-2 record, including a six-game unbeaten streak.
Wilcox, a draft choice of the Tampa Bay Lightning, has started in 13 of the team's 15 games this season, posting a 1.61 goals-against average in just under 820 minutes of action to lead the WCHA. The 186-pound goalie also leads the conference in victories with nine and is second with a .769 win percentage (9-2-2).
During the six-game unbeaten stretch in Novemeber, Wilcox led the fourth-ranked Gophers to four wins and two draws that included a 4-0 shutout at Alaska Anchorage and a 3-1 victory over rival Wisconsin.
The Gophers will travel to face Colorado College at 7:30 p.m. Friday, a game that can be seen on FOX Sports North’s Plus channel.
