Fantasy Football Starts and Sits for Week 11 in 2014

Published Nov. 13, 2014 7:37 p.m. ET

Starts:

QB – Matt Ryan, ATL

Though he’s only thrown for multiple touchdowns once in the last five games, this is more about the Panthers defense. In the past two games, Carolina has allowed a combined 73 points. The Panthers are 23rd in pass defense (254.4 yards per game) and the Falcons are seventh in the air attack (272.4 passing yards per game). In his career, Ryan has 20 passing TDs in 12 games against Carolina and averages 251.4 yards per contest.

Other notables: Teddy Bridgewater (MIN), Derek Carr (OAK), and Colin Kaepernick (SF)

RB – Frank Gore, SF

Look back at the last five weeks, the Giants have allowed the most rushing yards to opposing running backs (675 yards), and they did it in only four games. Marshawn Lynch found the end zone four times last week against New York. Gore also scored a TD last week. It was his first touchdown since Week 2.

Other notables: Mark Ingram (NO), Ryan Mathews (SD), and Steven Jackson (ATL)

WR – Brandon LaFell, NE

The Patriots had last week off, but don’t forget about LaFell. Before the break, he was targeted 25 times in the past two games. LaFell also made 17 catches for 177 yards and two TDs in those contests combined. Expect a lot of points between NE/IND on Sunday night. Vegas projects and over/under of 57.5 total points, the highest in Week 11.

Other notables: James Jones (OAK), Emmanuel Sanders (DEN), and DeSean Jackson (WSH)

TE – Chase Ford, MIN

The Bears have allowed six touchdowns to opposing tight ends in their last two games. Sure, Rob Gronkowski scored three of those TDs, but Tim Wright, Andrew Quarless, and Brandon Bostick all found the end zone, as well. Ford has been targeted 13 times in his last two games. In both of those outings, he caught at least five passes and tallied over 60 yards.

Other notables: Jared Cook (STL), Vernon Davis (SF), and Dwayne Allen (IND)

Sits:

QB – Drew Stanton, ARI

In his last start for the Cardinals, they lost to the Broncos. It was the only loss suffered by Arizona this season. Now, he gets the Lions. This year, Detroit is allowing the fewest fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. In nine games, the Lions have only allowed 10 passing TDs (tied for fewest in NFL).

Other notables: Ryan Tannehill (MIA), Ryan Mallett (HOU), and Alex Smith (KC)

RB – Tre Mason, STL

Not only is Mason facing the best run defense in the league, but he also gets to deal with a quarterback change. Denver is only allowing 67 rushing yards per game. Shaun Hill is replacing Austin Davis as the QB.  The last time he threw a pass in a game, Adrian Peterson was still playing football (Week 1). This does not bode well for anyone on the Rams offense.

Other notables: Andre Ellington (ARI), Bobby Rainey (TB), and Reggie Bush (DET)

WR – Marques Colston, NO

Remember when Colston had eligibility at TE and Jimmy Graham wasn’t in the picture? That was awesome…for Colston fans. Now, Colston is currently third on the Saints in targets, behind Graham and rookie Brandin Cooks. Kenny Stills (27), Travaris Cadet (26), and Pierre Thomas (26) are all in striking distance of surpassing Colston (30) with the third-most receptions on the team this season. Colston also hasn’t caught a touchdown since Week 3.

Other notables: Dwayne Bowe (KC), Michael Crabtree (SF), and Michael Floyd (ARI)

TE – Jermaine Gresham, CIN

This season, the Saints have allowed the fewest receptions to opposing TEs (33 catches) and are tied with the fewest TDs allowed to tight ends (only Levine Toilolo scored, which was in Week 1).

Other notables: Garrett Graham (HOU), Scott Chandler (BUF), and Andrew Quarless (GB)
