Bucks extend head coach Kidd through 2019-20

Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd is here to stay.

The Bucks announced on Tuesday that Kidd has agreed to an extension that will keep him under contract through the 2019-20 season.

"I truly believe that continuity is extremely important in our business, so I'm very happy for Jason and the Bucks organization to continue the partnership we have," Bucks GM John Hammond said in a statement.

Hired by the Bucks in 2014, Kidd led Milwaukee to a 41-41 record and a playoff spot in his first season at the helm, before missing the playoffs with a 33-49 record last season despite the addition of free-agent center Greg Monroe.

Kidd has proven adept at handling the franchise's young players, with Jabari Parker and Khris Middleton making significant strides under his leadership.

But Kidd's best work may be his use of 21-year-old Giannis Antetokounmpo, whose move to point guard late in the season jumpstarted the Bucks' offense.

"We have a hard-working group of coaches that want to teach our young players and help them reach their full potential," Kidd said in a statement. "We still have work to do but we're committed to the goal of building a team that consistently competes for titles."
