Blatt holds 'fiery' meeting prior to game in Chicago
On the night of LeBron's homecoming the Cleveland Cavaliers were outplayed by the New York Knicks, and head coach David Blatt was not happy.
The team needed a wake-up call, and Blatt gave them one in a meeting at their hotel prior to Friday's game in Chicago.
According to ESPN.com, Blatt called a meeting at the team's hotel and put the team in their place.
"You all are such nice people, I'm so happy you weren't in the morning meeting today because your opinion of me might be vastly different right now," Blatt said after Friday's win.
It has been a question all summer how Blatt would handle coaching a superstar like LeBron James, and according to the article, he didn't shy away from calling out the best player in the world.
"He just got on us," James said when asked about Blatt's message. "He got on us from the time we started our meeting to the time we left. And it's great. For a team like us, we need that. I love constructive criticism. I never took it personal. It's just an opportunity for us to get better, and it definitely put a fire into us."
Whatever Blatt said, it seemed to work. The Cavaliers cut down their turnovers from 19 in Thursday night's loss to the Knicks to 12 in Friday's win against the Bulls.
