Bjoergen, Northug win cross-country Tour de Ski races
OBERSTDORF, Germany (AP) Marit Bjoergen led another Norwegian sweep of the podium Sunday to win the second stage of the women's cross-country Tour de Ski, while Norway's Petter Northug won the men's race.
Bjoergen, the six-time Olympic champion, completed the 10-kilometer pursuit in 29 minutes, 27.6 seconds, 56.2 seconds ahead of Heidi Weng and 56.8 ahead of Therese Johaug.
''My goal for today was to stay focused on my performance and my competition. I had perfect skis and very good grip on the climbs,'' Bjoergen said after her 86th World Cup win.
Bjoergen, who has a commanding 338-point lead in the overall World Cup standings, also won the opening prologue on Saturday, when Weng was second.
Northug made a late burst to come from behind and win the 15K pursuit in 42 minutes, 1.2 seconds, edging Canada's Alex Harvey by 0.6 seconds and Sweden's Calle Halfvarsson by 0.8.
''I tried to stay in the leading group. There was a lot of fighting for positions. It was better for me stay little bit back and save energy for the last lap,'' said Northug, who was third in Saturday's 4K freestyle race.
Defending Tour and overall champion Martin Johnsrud Sundby was eighth on Sunday and still leads the overall World Cup standings with 587 points.
The tour next moves to Val Mustair in Switzerland for races on Tuesday.
