Baylor assistant suspended for first half of game vs. Oklahoma

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:17 p.m. ET

The Big 12 Conference announced a public reprimand of Baylor assistant football coach Jeff Lebby after he spent part of Saturday's Tulsa-Oklahoma game on the Tulsa sideline.

Baylor said Lebby will miss the first half of the Nov. 14 game against Oklahoma in Waco, Texas.

"The opportunity for Coach Lebby to scout a future opponent by being on the sideline of a conference member's opponent is inconsistent with the principles and expectations of the Big 12 Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct Policy," Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said in a statement. "I appreciate the action of Baylor athletics director Ian McCaw in addressing this matter and accept the University's self-imposed penalty."

Lebby a former graduate assistant at Oklahoma, is friends with Tulsa coach Phil Montgomery. Montgomery was Baylor's offensive coordinator last year.
