Badgers-Michigan State pregame notes
Here are some notes, tidbits and stats heading for Saturday's game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Michigan State Spartans:
-- This is the 53rd meeting between Wisconsin and Michigan State. The Spartans lead the all-time series 30-22, including 16-7 at home. The Badgers and Spartans haven't played since 2012 and this is Wisconsin's first game in East Lansing since 2011.
-- The last time Wisconsin started out 4-0 was in 2011. The Badgers reached 6-0 before losing at Michigan State.
-- Under Paul Chryst, Wisconsin is 10-1 when scoring first (3-0 in 2016), 3-2 when the opponent scores first, 8-1 when leading after the first quarter (2-0 in 2016), 1-2 when trailing after the first quarter, 12-0 when leading at halftime (3-0 in 2016), 1-3 when trailing at halftime, 11-0 when leading after the third quarter (2-0 in 2016) and 2-3 when trailing after the third quarter (1-0 in 2016).
-- Andrew Endicott is the likely choice for field-goal attempt and extra points with Rafael Gaglianone out with a back injury (offensive lineman Jon Dietzen and running back Bradrick Shaw are also both listed as out). Endicott, a senior, has never attempted a field goal in the regular season. Ever. Not in college or high school.
-- Wisconsin has had 23 100-yard rushers vs. Michigan State. Most: 214, Ron Dayne (1999). Most on road: 173, Brent Moss (1994). Montee Ball did it two times in 2011, thanks to the Big Ten title game.
-- The Badgers have nine 200-yard passers vs. Michigan State. Last: Russell Wilson, 2011 (regular-season game); Most: 380, Jim Sorgi in 2003.
-- The only Badgers QBs with 200+-yard passing games in East Lansing are Russell Wilson, 223 in 2011 and Mike Kalasmiki, 240 in 1978.
-- Only six times has a Wisconsin player had 100+ yards receiving vs. Michigan State. Lee Evans did it twice and both times 200+ (228, 258).
