Panthers sweep Predators in preseason doubleheader

Tomas Fleischmann scored at 4:13 of overtime to give the Florida Panthers a 3-2 victory and a split-squad preseason doubleheader sweep of the Nashville Predators on Monday night.

Earlier in the day, the Panthers scored three goals in the third period to beat the Predators 6-3 in the opener.

Craig Smith put the Predators up 1-0 at 12:57 in the first period of the nightcap, but the Panthers tied it 13 seconds later on Jared Gomes' goal. Gabriel Bourque put Nashville back in front 2-1 at 11:30 of the second period.

The Panthers got even again when Tomas Kopecky scored with 9:49 remaining in regulation.

In the first game, Brad Boyes put the Panthers ahead 4-3 with 7:16 remaining. Scottie Upshall had his second goal of the game with 6:37 left, and Quinton Howden scored at 15:37 to cap the third-period outburst.

Nashville led 3-1 after the opening period on goals by Kevin Henderson at :44, Filip Forsberg at 7:39, and Shea Weber at 19:27.

Upshall scored his first goal on a power play at 6:01 in the first.

Florida's Erik Gudbranson scored at 14:14 and 18:13 of the second.
