Panthers release Booth, end bid for second stint with team

The Florida Panthers put an end to David Booth's bid to earn a second stint with the club on Wednesday.
After signing a professional tryout contract with Florida earlier this month, Booth was waived by the team, according to George Richards of the Miami Herald.
The 30-year-old left wing was selected by the Panthers with a second-round pick (53rd overall) in the 2004 draft and spent his first six years in the league with Florida.
Booth reportedly wept upon learning that he had been traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 2011 along with Steve Reinprecht and a third-round pick for Mikael Samuelsson and Marco Sturm. After limited success in British Columbia, Booth collected seven goals and six assists in 59 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs last season.
Booth has scored 120 goals and set up 111 others in 502 career contests with the Canucks, Maple Leafs and Panthers.

David Booth says he doesn't know what's next for him after being released by #FlaPanthers ... Not ruling out AHL but feels he's an NHLer
