Minnesota Wild recall Colton Gillies from Houston

Published Oct. 20, 2010 10:14 a.m. ET

The Minnesota Wild recalled former first-round draft pick Colton Gillies from the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League today, and he's expected to be available if needed for tonight's game against the Vancouver Canucks at the Xcel Energy Center.

Forwards Matt Cullen and Martin Havlat missed practice Monday because of illness, but both returned to the ice for the morning skate today at the X.

Mikko Koivu also missed the morning skate, but was in the building and likely was given the morning off.

Also returning to practice today from illness was defenseman Nick Schultz, so the Wild lineup appears full for the team's game against the Canucks.

Gillies, 21, who spent the whole season with Minnesota during 2008-09, had a goal and an assist in four games for the Aeros this season. He was the Wild's first pick in the 2007 NHL draft. Gillies arrived in time to participate in the morning skate.
