Kane takes hit on knee, goes down, then returns

Published Feb. 14, 2010 7:15 p.m. ET

Patrick Kane, a member of the U.S. Olympic team, went down with an injury to his right leg and gingerly skated to the bench early in the third period of the Chicago Blackhawks game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Kane was skating with the puck into the offensive zone when Columbus defenseman Anton Stralman tried to hip-check him as he crossed the blue line. Instead, their right knees slammed into each other.

The 21-year-old Kane, expected to play right wing on one of the American team's top lines, lay on the ice for two minutes. Chicago teammate Troy Brouwer then fought with Stralman, with Brouwer called for a double-minor for instigating.

Columbus tied the game at 4 on the second power play.
