Jackets assign center Chaput to AHL Springfield

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned center Michael Chaput (shah-POOT') to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts.

The 22-year-old Chaput has two assists and eight penalty minutes playing in all 18 games this season with the Blue Jackets. The Ile Bizard, Quebec, native who made his NHL debut on Oct. 27, 2013, vs. Anaheim, has three assists and 10 penalty minutes in 35 career games. He was acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade with Philadelphia on Feb. 28, 2012.
