New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic says he sustained a torn left knee ligament that forced him to miss the team's first-round playoff series against Washington.
Hamonic revealed the nature of the injury while cleaning out his locker on Tuesday, a day after the Islanders were eliminated in a 2-1 loss in Game 7. The injury did not require surgery.

Defenseman Calvin de Haan also revealed he missed the final two games against the Capitals after spraining his left shoulder in Game 5.
