Former Maple Leaf forward Sergei Berezin was arrested in Palm Beach County, Fla. for alleged Medicaid and food stamps fraud, according to WPBF 25. An undercover operation found Berezin, who was drafted by the Maple Leafs in 1994, was allegedly paying a Florida company to receive Medicaid and food stamps benefits he was not eligible for, and he reportedly received $67,000 in benefits from Jan. 2010 - Dec. 2013.

Meanwhile, WPBF reported that property records show Berezin and his wife own and live in a $1 million home in Boca Raton, Fla. Berezin reportedly told undercover police informants that he made $100,000 as an income for training hockey players and renting out properties.

Berezin played for the Leafs from 1996-2001, then played for four different teams in two seasons before leaving to play in Russia.
