Coyotes' Morris and Islanders' Clutterbuck sit out

Published Oct. 8, 2013 8:11 p.m. ET

The Phoenix Coyotes are without veteran defenseman Derek Morris for their game against the New York Islanders.

Morris was a question mark for Tuesday night's contest after he missed practice in Arizona on Monday because of an upper body injury, but he took part in the team's morning skate on Long Island hours before the game.

Fellow defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson also skipped practice on Monday with a similar ailment. He skated Tuesday morning and was in the Coyotes lineup. Michael Stone made his season debut in Morris' place.

New York was again without forward Cal Clutterbuck, who has missed all three Islanders games this season after sustaining a skate laceration on his leg during a preseason game against Calgary on Sept. 17.

The right wing has been cleared for action and could make his Islanders debut as early as Friday at Chicago.
