Carolina Hurricanes Sign Brock McGinn for Two More Years

The Carolina Hurricanes Have Re-Signed Forward Brock McGinn to a New Two-Year Deal Worth $1,775,000 million.

The Carolina Hurricanes have re-signed forward Brock McGinn to a new two-year deal worth $1.775 million. The contract will pay Brock $875,000 in year one and $900,000 in 2018-19. After a very solid season with the Hurricanes, the contract was well deserved.

    Last season McGinn appeared in 57 games for the Hurricanes which is a new career high. He also set career highs in goals (seven), assists (nine) and points (16) with six penalty minutes and a minus 11 rating.

    The 23-year-old McGinn has played a total of 78 NHL games putting up 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points with 16 penalty minutes and a minus 25 rating. He's also appeared in 134 career AHL games scoring 39 goals with 31 assists for 70 points along with 73 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of minus 25.

    Brock was selected in the second round of the 2012 draft by Carolina after a solid career in the OHL. He played a total of 227 games scoring 93 goals and adding 79 assists for 172 points.

    He also earned himself 179 penalty minutes with a plus 54 rating. McGinn will most likely see consistent NHL time again next season and once again take another big step forward in his progression. He does possess top six talent, it's only a matter of time before he taps into it and breaks out.
