Canucks' GM Place to be renamed Rogers Arena

Published Jul. 6, 2010 1:00 a.m. ET

The Vancouver Canucks have a new name for their home next season: Rogers Arena.

The rink had been known as GM Place since it opened in 1995. But the agreement between the Canucks and General Motors of Canada has expired and the team has signed a naming rights deal with the communications giant.

The men's and women's Olympic gold-medal hockey games were played at the arena. The building also hosts concerts. GM will remain involved in arena promotions with the Canucks.
