Retirement is likely a long way off for Bruins forward Brad Marchand, but the winger might have a future career path lined up thanks to his experience doing a voiceover for an animated short for the Bruins.

Marchand was one of a handful of Bruins players who recorded voiceovers for a 1980s-style cartoon series the team is running this year as part of its "The Bear & the Gang" video series. Marchand's opponents might enjoy the latest installment of the program, as a robot created by Marchand gets the best of the pesky winger in a fight that plays out in front of fellow Bruin Patrice Bergeron and Boston mayor Marty Walsh.

But while the cartoon version of Marchand did not fare well in the video, the real Marchand said he enjoyed the whole process of recording the voiceovers and watching his character come to life.

"I’ve never done something like this before where you really have to get the words right and the expressions and the tone and everything," Marchand told FOX Sports. "It was different. I don’t think it was really hard because you got to do it as many times as you wanted to until they liked it and you liked it.

"It was a lot of fun. I enjoyed being in there and doing something different."

The illustrations for the series were done by J.J. Sedelmaier, a cartoonist known for his work on Saturday Night Live's "TV Funhouse" and -- as Marchand noted -- the MTV cartoon series "Beavis and Butthead." And while Marchand said his favorite cartoons growing up were "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and "Duck Tales", he noted it was cool to work on a project with an illustrator like Sedelmaier. Marchand said he enjoyed the process so much that he would not rule out a career in cartoons after his days playing hockey end.

"I think I’d have to work on it a little bit but it would definitely be something that I think I would enjoy doing down the road," Marchand said. "Things like this are a lot of fun, so maybe. Time will tell."
