Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Wayne Fleming is recovering from an operation to remove a brain tumor.

The team said in a statement Saturday that Fleming had the procedure on Thursday. Doctors are waiting for test results to determine further treatment. The team said the depth of Fleming's involvement in the postseason will be based on his level of comfort.

The Lightning end the regular season Saturday night at Carolina. They will be making their first postseason appearance since 2007. Tampa Bay has clinched the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
