Wednesday Practice: Still No Dion Lewis, Van Noy Learning the Ropes
Even though Bill Belichick suggested he may start practicing this week, Patriots running back Dion Lewis was not on the field for Wednesday’s workout.
New England’s latest acquisition, linebacker Kyle Van Noy, did manage to find his way onto the practice field today — albeit with the wrong unit.

In Tuesday’s conference call with the media, head coach Bill Belichick hinted that Dion Lewis, as well as guard Tre’ Jackson, could be ready to hit the practice field again this week. Both players opened the season on the PUP list for the Patriots, but have been eligible to return since last week. Lewis was not to be seen today, however.

With LeGarrette Blount putting in some of the best running of his career and James White emerging as a weapon in the passing game, it’s no surprise that the Patriots aren’t rushing to get Lewis back on the field.
Once Lewis and Jackson begin practicing, the team will have 21 days to decide whether to activate them onto the 53-man roster or leave them on the PUP list for the remainder of the regular season.
