Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is off to a great start this season – even if his team isn’t – ranking third in the NFL in quarterback rating entering Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.
He probably doesn’t need luck like this, but he got it in the first quarter at Ford Field. Stafford threw a bad pass off the back of Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland, only to have it pop in the air and land in the hands of receiver Golden Tate.
Stafford needed 10 yards on third down and ended up with 17 thanks to a very fortunate bounce.
