Vikings place Teddy Bridgewater on injured reserve and add quarterback

One day after Teddy Bridgewater suffered a dislocated left knee and torn ACL, the Minnesota Vikings placed the third-year quarterback on injured reserve Wednesday.

Bridgewater sustained the injury during practice Tuesday to the dismay of his teammates and coaching staff.

Bridgewater appeared ready for a breakout season in 2016. He went 12 of 16 for 161 yards and a touchdown in two quarters against the Chargers in Sunday’s preseason game.

The Vikings re-signed QB Brad Sorensen on Wednesday after he was cut during the team's roster reduction from 90 to 75 players.

Sorensen joins veteran Shaun Hill and undrafted rookie Joel Stave as Minnesota's active quarterbacks. Sorensen, 28, was drafted by the Chargers in the seventh round in 2013. He spent three years in San Diego, mostly on the practice squad.
