NFL roundup: Tom Brady earns win No. 200 against rival New York

In Week 12 of the NFL season, New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady earned the 200th win of his NFL career.

It has been an incredible journey for Tom Brady, who has gone from pick No. 199 to a 200-game winner in the NFL. On Sunday, Brady won his 200th game in style, knocking off the hated New York Jets on the road for the Pats, 22-17. The 39-year-old Brady led his team back time and time again on Sunday, before eventually hitting Malcolm Mitchell for the game-winner late in the fourth quarter.

Some bad news for the Pats in the game, as Rob Gronkowski had to leave the contest with a back injury in the first quarter. Playing with an injured chest, Gronk did not return to the game, and finished with zero catches for New England. It will be interesting to see if he can go next week, when the Pats take on the Los Angeles Rams at home.

Speaking of the Rams, although they got blown out by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, their first overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft looked pretty good. Jared Goff threw for three touchdowns in his first NFL start, though it was in a 49-21 defeat at the hands of Drew Brees and company. Goff completed 20 of 32 passes in the game, including his first ever NFL touchdown pass, which was a 24-yard pass to Tavon Austin on the first drive of the game.

With the win, the Saints continue to try to keep pace with the Atlanta Falcons, who just may be the best team in the NFC. Atlanta put a hurting on the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, racking up 38 points against the best defense in the NFL, statistically. Matt Ryan hit Taylor Gabriel twice for scores, and both of their running backs, Tevin Coleman and Devonte Freeman found the end zone as well.

Staying in the NFC,  the New York Giants continued their winning ways on Sunday, beating the hapless Cleveland Browns on the road for their sixth straight win. Quarterback Eli Manning hit Odell Beckham Jr. twice for scores, as the team was able to pull away from the Browns in the second half. With the loss, Cleveland saw their record go to 0-12 on the season. The Browns appear destined to pick first overall in next April’s draft.

Finally, the Oakland Raiders are still the No. 1 seed in the AFC after 12 weeks, thanks to a gutty performance by the quarterback on Sunday. Derek Carr led his team to a 24-7 half time lead, only to dislocate his right pinky on the first drive of the second half. The Carolina Panthers then reeled off 25 straight points, before Carr and company rallied for two late scores to win the game 35-32, moving their record to 9-2 on the season.
