McNutt cut by Dolphins

Published Aug. 31, 2013 1:00 a.m. ET

Receiver Marvin McNutt, who caught a game-winning 56-yard touchdown pass in the Miami Dolphins' final exhibition game, is among 22 players released by the team to reach the 53-man roster limit.

Third-string quarterback Pat Devlin made the team for the third year in a row, even though he has yet to play in an NFL game.

Among those waived Saturday was fourth-year linebacker Austin Spitler and defensive tackle Kheeston Randall, who played in 12 games as a rookie last season.

Miami kept only four wide receivers, including backup Rishard Matthews. Marcus Thigpen made the team as a kick returner for the second year in a row.

Also making the final roster was tight end Michael Egnew, a third-round pick who played in only two games as a rookie.
