Browns coach keeps starting QB a secret vs Steelers

Published Nov. 13, 2015 2:17 p.m. ET

BEREA, Ohio (AP) Browns coach Mike Pettine is not revealing who will start at quarterback on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Following Friday's practice, Pettine said he has picked a starter but hasn't told Josh McCown or Johnny Manziel. Pettine said he's keeping his decision under wraps for strategic reasons.

McCown returned to practice this week after missing last week's game with injured ribs sustained on Nov. 1. Pettine has said McCown will start if he's healthy.

Manziel filled in for McCown last week against Cincinnati and has taken the majority of snaps with Cleveland's starting offense this week. He threw a touchdown pass in the first half against the Bengals, but they kept him in the pocket after halftime and he passed for just 40 yards.

Manziel is still being investigated by the NFL for his involvement in a recent domestic dispute.
