Blake Bortles Starts Ice Cold, Throws Pick-Six on First Drive (Video)
Blake Bortles ended his first drive exactly like you’d expect him to, throwing a pick-six to the Houston Texans.
Blake Bortles has earned the moniker of the Garbage Man in recent weeks and there may not be a more fitting name for an NFL player. If you look at the box scores and game lines, you might think the Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback is good. He has been far from it this season, though. Bortles has started incredibly slow only to pad his stats when the defense has let up after building a comfortable lead.
True to form, Bortles and the Jaguars got the ball first against the Houston Texans in NFL Week 10. Bortles looked like he might try to have a nice little drive early on. Instead, the Jaguars quarterback threw for a little more than a dozen yards before he started showing his true colors.
On the Jaguars first drive of the game, all the quarterback had to do was throw a simple out route to Allen Hurns to get a first down. Instead, he but three times as much air under it than there needed to be and it sailed right into the hands of Texans safety Kareem Jackson. When you’re Blake Bortles, it only takes one-sixteenth of a drive to start throwing pick-sixes:

Playing at home against a divisional opponent, you’d hope that the Jags and Bortles would come ready to play and pull off a bit of an upset. Instead, it looks like the quarterback is perpetually in his state of waiting until garbage time to start completing passes to players on his team.
