Bengals' Lewis: Win the Super Bowl, then 'walk away'

BY foxsports • July 31, 2015

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis is winless in six career postseason games, but he already has a plan in place if and when he can guide his team to a Super Bowl victory.

"I want to hand [Bengals owner Mike Brown] the trophy, then just walk away," Lewis said via the Cincinnati Enquirer

That doesn't mean Lewis expects it to happen this year, but he says he's ready to call it a career once he gets that elusive Lombardi trophy. "We’re good enough, but we have to play good enough,’" he said.

"We’re a pretty good team. I think we can give a good account of ourselves," Brown added. "We haven’t driven the nail home. It doesn’t please me.’"

The Bengals arguably have the best roster of Lewis' regime top to bottom. They did enough last season to earn an extra year in Cincinnati for Lewis, but if Lewis and quarterback Andy Dalton fail a fifth straight time in the postseason, you have to wonder if Brown will allow Lewis to fulfill his contract.
