Sergio Llull: 'I'm happy in Madrid'

The Houston Rockets have tried to pry Spanish guard Sergio Llull from his European club for several years, and each summer they fail.

But last week, head coach Kevin McHale made a public statement on the radio about his desire to coach the talented Llull in Houston next season. It seemed like the Rockets were on their way to finally getting their man.

Not so fast. According to the spanish basketball site Piratas del Basket, Llull won't be coming to Houston anytime soon:

“I’m flattered that there’s talk about me, but I’m happy in Madrid and I have a multi-year contract."

Llull would likely be a backup in Houston, and it's unclear how much money general manager Daryl Morey is willing to spend on a player with no NBA experience. But he'd still be useful, and not bringing him over is the Rockets' loss.
