Report: If Joe Johnson accepts buyout from Nets, he'll join Cavaliers

Joe Johnson is suffering through a dismal season with the Nets, and his scoring average is the lowest it's been in his last 12 NBA seasons.
But it's safe to assume that Johnson can still bring it in a limited role as a scorer, and he's proven himself to be one of the most clutch shooters in the game over and over again in recent years.
He's currently in the final year of a deal that will pay him close to $25 million this year, but if he were to agree to take less in a contract buyout, he could become an unrestricted free agent and chase a ring with a title contender during the second half of the season.
If that's the route Johnson chooses, then (via Chris Haynes of Cleveland.com) the Cavaliers will be where he ends up.
Brooklyn Nets veteran swingman Joe Johnson is still very much in play for the defending Eastern Conference champions, league sources informed cleveland.com.
Should Johnson, 34, obtain a buyout of his $25 million salary for the season, Cleveland would be his next destination, sources with knowledge of the dialogue insist to cleveland.com.The sticking point in all of this may simply be Johnson's lack of desire to change teams in the middle of the season. The money is of secondary concern to a player who's banked more than $173 million in career earnings, so Johnson needs to decide if he'd like to play for a contender this year, or maybe just join one in free agency once the current campaign is finished.
