Reggie Bullock will be out 2-4 months with knee injury

Reggie Bullock hasn’t been able to buy a break this season. After missing the first couple weeks of 2016-17 with back spasms, the verdict is in on his torn meniscus.

Reggie Bullock has had a season to forget so far. After the Detroit Pistons declined to extend his contract before the season, he missed the first 12 games of the season with back spasms.

Once he made it on to the floor on November 18th in a disheartening blowout loss at the Cleveland Cavaliers, he only saw action in a total of three games before he tore his meniscus in the fourth game against the Miami Heat.

Per Shams Charania of The Vertical, the outlook for Bullock this season is grim.

Barring setback, this projects Bullock’s return between early February and April. Hopefully, he’ll be returning to prepare for a playoff run.

Bullock’s return from back spasms seemed well-timed considering Stanley Johnson‘s baffling struggles. With Johnson losing the faith of head coach and president of basketball operations Stan Van Gundy, Bullock appeared poised to capitalize on an opportunity to break into the rotation.

With this news, that role will likely fall to Darrun Hilliard. With Johnson slipping in the rotation, Hilliard’s minutes have increased and he’s appeared in four straight games. After a solid performance against the Charlotte Hornets on Tuesday, expect Hilliard to get decent minutes against the Boston Celtics tonight.
