Portland's Aminu stays consistent through 'rain, sleet or snow'
The Portland Trail Blazers downed the Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, and Al-Farouq Aminu was a big reason for the upset.
He finished with 13 rebounds, six boards and five assists, an all-around effort that helped push the underdogs past one of the hottest teams in the league.
Here's what he said afterwards about how important energy and consistency are to his game, per The Oregonian:
Aminu is averaging 11.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, shooting a career best 32.6 percent beyond the arc, on a career high 4.5 attempts per game. Better yet, Portland's offense is way better with him on the floor than on the bench.
And none of this is a testament to his work on defense, where Aminu's length and athleticism are hugely valuable. If he can just become a bit more efficient, Portland may have found itself a gem.
"I try to stay the course, man," he said. "Rain, sleet or snow. I try to work always the same way, whether I've made 100 of them or missed 100 of them, to always have a consistency of what I do." And as he charged ahead toward a road game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday, he pledged to continue to stick to his routine. "I have to keep working," he said. "It's a (long) season. It's a journey, I'm always going to remember that."
