Pelicans' Perkins out indefinitely with pectoral injury

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 12:40 a.m. ET

NEW ORLEANS -- The New Orleans Pelicans say there's no timetable for how long veteran center Kendrick Perkins will need to come back from a pectoral injury.

Perkins, who started New Orleans' first three games, was hurt in the first quarter Saturday night in a 134-120 loss to the Golden State Warriors.

Perkins has averaged 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds this season. His injury came in the same game that Pelicans center Omer Asik made his return from a right calf injury.

The Pelicans have backup center Alexis Ajinca available and also rotate 6-foot-10 power forward Anthony Davis to that spot in certain situations.
