LeBron on Kanye's Nike diss track: 'I haven't listened to it'
LeBron James is very aware of the latest trends in hip-hop. At the very least, he follows the genre's biggest names, as evidenced by the fact that he didn't hesitate when asked to pick his favorite songs off of Drake and Future's mixtape in an interview with FOX Sports back in October.
But as someone who just signed a lifetime deal with Nike, LeBron can't exactly co-sign a track from Kanye West that dissed the brand to which he is attached.
The song, released on New Year’s Eve, includes the lyrics, "Nike, Nike treat employees just like slaves // Gave LeBron a billi' not to run away."
“I haven’t really listened to it,” James said after the Cleveland Cavaliers held shootaround on Monday morning. “I heard about it but I haven’t listened to it. Obviously I’m going to side with Nike no matter who it is. It’s just, it’s family when you talk about Nike, and I’m always on their side no matter what the situation is, so. We don’t look upon nobody on our side, we just try to put the best athletes that we can out on the floor every night.”
LeBron may like some of Kanye's music, because a lot of it is amazing. But there's no way he's interested in hearing any of the "Facts" that may cast Nike in a negative light.
