Isaiah Thomas once peed himself to avoid subbing out

You typically have to be at least 54 inches tall to ride a roller coaster, 57 inches tall to get out of a booster seat, and at least six feet tall to play in the NBA.
OK, so the latter isn’t an actual rule, but more of a forgone conclusion that if you don’t hit that minimum height suggestion, you won’t get a crack at most rosters beyond high school.
Unless you’re Isaiah Thomas.
The Boston Celtics guard has thrived at each and every level of basketball he’s played, and on Sunday will lead the C’s into the playoffs after a one-year hiatus. In a world of giants, Thomas is but an ant. And with those odds stacked against him, he’s had to go to greater lengths than most other players in order to succeed.
Chalk this recent story from The Boston Globe up to one of those lengths.
During a close game while playing at the University of Washington, Thomas desperately needed to use the bathroom. He was afraid, though, that if he left the bench during a timeout to use the restroom, he wouldn’t make it back in time to stay in the game. We’ll let one of Thomas’ former high school and college coaches, Raphael Chillious, take it from here.
“He put the towel in his shorts and peed on the bench, because he didn’t want to check out,” Chillious recently told the Boston Globe. “That was a guy who wanted to compete.”
We’re not sure if this means that Thomas is the ultimate competitor, or if it’s just a testament to the fact that if you’ve got to go, you’ve got to go. Either way, one thing is for certain: Isaiah Thomas always gets the job done.
