How long will Marcus Smart's sprained toe keep him out of action?

The first 100 minutes of Marcus Smart's second season have been decent. He's averaging an inefficient 12 points per game, drawing more fouls than he did last year and playing his typically incredible on-ball defense.

But a sprained toe kept Smart out of Boston's most recent game (a loss in Indiana), and it could sideline him even longer, according to The Boston Herald:

The Celtics are 1-3, but don't need to rush Smart back and have this injury linger throughout the season. If he misses a couple games, so be it.

"They’re calling it a sprain, but not too sure how it happened," said Smart, who had an X-Ray, which turned out to be negative, taken of the toe yesterday. "My toe wasn’t feeling 100 percent and then it was really hurting when I woke up the next morning. But it looks like a sprain." Asked if he could play with the toe taped, Smart shook his head and said, "No, I wouldn’t be able to push off of it. To just find what’s wrong with it they have to keep it secure. Nothing showed up, so they’re trying to figure it out. That’s why they determined that it’s a jam, a sprain."
