Curry, Iguodala celebrate NBA history with a round at Augusta National
Lost in the commotion of the Golden State Warriors' 2015 NBA championship win was an adorable moment between Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala. Rather than going to Disneyland, the two NBA players (and avid golfers) were stoked to celebrate their title with a round at Augusta National:
It's taken two-thirds of a year, but Curry and Iguodala finally got to play 18 at the home of one of golf's legendary majors on Tuesday (via Forbes):
A day after scoring 36 points as the Warriors (50-5) reached 50 wins in fewer games than any team in NBA history, Curry was among a four members of the organization who traveled from Atlanta to Augusta, Georgia, for a round at one of the world’s most exclusive clubs, according to a CSN Bay Area report. Also in the foursome are teammate Andre Iguodala, who was the Most Valuable Player of the Warriors’ NBA Finals victory last season, Warriors owner Joe Lacob and team executive Jerry West.
The round is reportedly courtesy of Warriors coach Steve Kerr, who promised Curry and Iguodala last season that he would try to hook them up with a round at Augusta if they won the title. Curry's had the opportunity to play in some pretty impressive foursomes since conquering the NBA world. You'll likely recall that he took in a round with president Barack Obama this past summer — although the leader of the free world later joked at Golden State's championship White House tour that he was more eager to meet Curry's daughter Riley than the Warriors superstar himself.
Curry and Iguodala are no strangers to jointly taking part in high-profile groupings, by the by. They both played with PGA pro Justin Thomas in a charity pro-am in October as well. And Iguodala has been known to show off his golf swing, both in appropriate places:
